Other Projects

Khothatsong provides Biblical counseling to people infected/affected by HIV/AIDS. This program works through members of the Free Reformed Churches of Soshanguve who are trained spiritual counselors, and visit patients in their homes and at the hospice. At the hospice the ministers and missionaries are coming in for devotions, prayer and singing.

In addition, the Khothatsong Aids Committee tries to create a sustainable system by training people. The skills that need to be developed are very diverse, varying from spiritual support to physical support for people infected or affected by HIV/Aids.

A capacity building program with external organisations allows us to select suitable training options from a range of credible institutions. For full time workers in the hospice and home based care teams we offer an in-service training program to equip them for work.

How Khothatsong Community Centre helped me quit drugs

Psalm 146:2: I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

I started attending this programme on the 5th of May 2016. I won this battle through the motivation, guide and inspiration of Mr Mahlangu our counsellor.

I used to think that I’m witched but I’m not. He showed me the power of prayer and the responsibility as a man. He showed me the power of believing in myself and God (faith). Now I’m no longer smoking Nyaope. I nearly lost everything including my fiancé and my two beautiful girls (5 years and 3 years).

Now I can see that I can become anything I want in life. I’m no longer in the darkness, I can see the light where ever I go, I’m beginning to get back in the community. I’m now a born again Christian. I don’t steal or lie again. The days of my sorrows and suffering are over. I trust in God and in myself. I’m a better person and I’m thankful to God for giving us a leader like Mr. Mahlangu. I wish there can be more leaders like him in our community, so that they can help others that are in the darkness to see the light again. Now I know how to choose friends and behave around people. Now I have a mission, vision and values.

I wish they can help me find a job to feed my family as this is a duty of man to make sure that his family go to school and bed with full stomachs and give them the besteducation that I never got. I want to be a good role model to my kids and others. I wish God can give him a healthy life to live long and help other see the light as well.

Warm Regards,
Thapelo Sitole
